What's The Difference Between Mentor Coaching and Supervision?
The development of the coach continues throughout our evolution. Having offered mentor coaching since 2007, I have seen how support for the development of the coach also continues to evolve.
Here at Potentials Realized we offer both MENTOR COACHING (for ACC/PCC) and COACHING SUPERVISION for Individual, Group and Team Coaching for ICF and EMCC coaches.

Why Coaching Supervision?

Coaching supervision is also a requirement for coach development for coaches within the EMCC ecosystem and it is being proposed for the new advanced team coaching credential, currently being piloted by ICF.

Potentials Realized Approach to Coaching Supervision
As an industry leader in the areas of group and team coaching, we bring deep experience in not only training group and team coaches for more than 16 years, but have also incorporated elements of supervision and the development of the coach in our mentor coaching approaches since 2010. As the landscape of coach development changes in the marketplace of the Americas, the uncoupling of supervision and mentor coaching is now occurring. Our focus is specialized on support of coaches who work across the spectrum of individual, group and team coaching.
In addition to our founder, Jennifer Britton’s books, From One to Many: Best Practices for Group and Team Coaching (2013), and Effective Group Coaching being used as a recommended or required text on group and team coaching for the last decade, and providing space for team coaches to reflect on their work through our ICF CCE approved programming since 2006, we also closely align with and have received advanced and recognized training as team coach supervisors directly from Peter Hawkins in his 7 Eyed-Model to Team Coaching Supervision. We also have undertaken formal training as coach supervisors as part of the Diploma in Coaching Supervision from the Coaching Supervision Academy, one of the oldest coach supervision training institutions.

Why Coaching Supervision?
Coaching supervision is increasingly recognized as a proven core strategy for ongoing coach development. Already a requirement for coaches within the EMCC and Academy of Coaching ecosystem, the International Coach Federation plans to include supervision as a requirement for the new advanced team coaching credential, currently being piloted. These professional coaching bodies are all acknowledging that given the complexity of the team coaching context, coaching supervision enables the team coach to view their practice through the different perspectives of the team system, and as David Clutterbuck writes, "be more aware of the totality of the system and to assisting the coach in coming to terms with not knowing and not being able to exercise control".
Supervision also supports those working in co-coaching relationships on team assignments to reflect and develop their partnership.
